Byron M. Skelton (obituary)

B. M. (Byron McKinley) Skelton, 88, 536 21st Ave. N.E., died Monday (June 11, 1979). Mr. Skelton was born in Delroy, Ohio and moved here from Akron, Ohio in 1924. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1925 and was a partner of Skelton & Willis, Attorneys. At the time of his death he was the oldest practicing attorney in St. Petersburg.

He taught school to obtain funds to attend college. He was graduated from Ohio Northern University and admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1916. He did post-graduate studies at Ohio State.

Mr. Skelton was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of St. Petersburg; the St. Petersburg Yacht Club; Argus Lodge 545 F&AM of Canfield, Ohio; Tampa Consistory; and Egypt Temple. He was also a member of the St. Petersburg Bar Association, Florida Bar and the American Bar Association.

He is survived by his wife Mildred, to whom he was married 60 years; one niece, Mrs. A.C. Krayer, Jr. of St. Petersburg; and two nephews, Richard and Thomas Skelton of Canfield.–Obituary from the St. Petersburg Times
